I was always under the impression that ONLINE Petitions were not validly acceptable.

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.asp
The very last paragraph gives a very important message.

Then why would politicians use it?

That article was also written in 2007. In 2007 the first iPhone was just being released. Texting was still a novelty. Kickstarter was still two years away. Netflix was still mailing DVD's to your house.

A LOT has changed in eight years. On-line petitions have significantly more weight now than they did nearly a decade ago.

Although I signed the petition I was a little worried that this is a great hunting ground for "SOME" to go find KJ's that have shifted with little or no trouble.

I don't have an answer for you. Please note what I said (highlighted in RED).

Understood, and yes, I realize that that article was last updated in 2007, but some of the points made in it are still valid today. Some things have changed, and others have not. That is why I posted that.

Valid or not, the petition serves as a means of raising awareness in the community. The more people that know, the more likely that they will apply pressure on elected officials to take some action.

And thus my added comment to pay close attention to the last paragraph in that Snopes article.

I like that term - slacktivision Hmm did I spell it right? I'm feeling too tired to look it up.
