Hey everyone. My name is Jason and I'm just getting into this (mainly personal). I ordered the JVC triple tray unit after reading much here and other places and think I will like it. My question comes about getting Karaoke music. Are there any used karaoke places? I know there has to be a ton of people out there who got into karaoke and then dropped it. Also I'm looking for some songs such as BUSH - Glycerine and it is rampant among Karaoke scenes but I can't find a copy of this anywhere. Is there a good place toget things like these? I'm sure I'll have tons of other questions too but this is the start. Since this is mostly for personal use I really don't want to spend $1500 buying songs that are 95% what I don't sing because I pay a fortune for a whole CD just to get a single song. Well, any advice would be appreciated. I hope it is ok to ask stuff like this here. If not then excuse my ignorance for my first topic.

ebay

also, if you don't want the "filler" songs, you might think about going custom disc. Initially, when you're seeing $5 a song, and knowing you're ordering 10 songs, it LOOKS expensive. But just price that against buying six spotlights... you could spend over $100 easily, so that $50 is a bargain!!

Yeah, I checked Ebay but it seems pretty slim. Maybe I should change the way I search. I'm searching for group names and cdg.
I am really considering the custom disc. Most want 10 songs so I'm trying to figure out what 10 I want. Plus, they don't have all of the songs available for them. Thanks for the tip and I'll keep looking. :)

It was originally released on Sound Choice 8240. It was discontinued due to the bands Silverchair & Pearl Jam.
It was also released on Top Hits Monthly 9603 if you can still find it.

Used discs usually get snatched up as soon as companies fold or sell out. Often times they will sell to one of their competitors or sell the entire set only. E-Bay will be your best bet on some of these discontinued discs, but even these are getting rare there too.

Jman - there is a silving lining to each cloud....often when I buy a disc for that "one song" I am looking for...I find another song...or two... that I would have never really considered trying to sing, if I had not had the disc. But on the other hand, I love virtually all kinds of music and with the exception of Opera, have sung songs from almost all styles and types of music. mostly because I have them on a disc and tried them out...... my horizons are broadening almost as fast as my waist.....

Well, I've learned a couple of things. First off, I've found that it is MUCH cheaper for me to go to my local Karaoke music shop (in a Mall no less) and buy the music than over the net. To be frank this blows my mind. I've been saving $$ for a LONG time by buying tons of stuff online and this has to be one fo the biggest disappointments yet. I almost ordered several CDGs online but figured I would give the local shop a glance first because basically you have to buy about $100 or more in music or you pay a whopping $8 to $9 to ship a single CDG at many places. Not only did I find it cheaper at Spotlight Karaoke (here in Dallas) after shipping would have been included but I found it cheaper to begin with. I say I saved on average of $3+ per CDG. If I would have had to pay to ship then I would have saved $11+ per CDG. YIKES!
The second thing I found is that it seems near impossible to get something that is already out of circulation. Maybe some of you guys can keep your eyes open for anyone who might have Bush- Glycerine. I've tried ebay and everything I can think of. Oh well, I got plenty for now but hope to find that one. Thanks a ton and I'll post up if I find anything else worth mentioning about finding music.

Some local shops may be cheaper on some discs in some places. For me, we have a local shop up here that charges MFG suggested retail. I paid $15 for a Pop Hits Monthly greatest hits pack from one of the advertisers here but won't mention any names because the thread may be deleted then. At my local shop he is still trying to get $75 for it. He won't do any price matching to internet & would rather lose the sale, which he has lost ALL of mine. We only have a couple karaoke stores in my area & the other place isn't much better but will work deals in multiple discs a little more.
