The Plane Crash
I want to apoligize for seeming trite.

My unfortunate reference to tragedy being interesting to observe, was meant as an analogy to a bad singer at a karaoke night.
You want to run and cover your ears, but there is something fascinating about it.

I have used, and heard used this colloquialism before.
It, of course, was not intended literally.
Perhaps it is a uniquely Canadian reference.

I'm sorry if this statement offended anyone.

My children reference
Certainly, children are the future of karaoke.
Certainly, there are venues that do (and should) allow children to participate.

I don't play in those venues.

There are KJs who do that really well.
I don't.

I'm sorry if my statement offended anyone.
...merely my opinion

Malibu I know the train wreck idiom. No offense was taken by me just trying to explain it to others. It's inherent to humans for some reason.

My that was interestin' readin'....as a singer let me say that karaoke is my stage...I know that my chances of becomin' that big country star are nill at best...but I do have my little following and in their eyes I'm a local star...so yes I take it seriously, and always will....yes it's fun...there is no better feelin' on earth than nailin' a song and gettin' that rush....and I'll also admit I'm addicted to the attention I get from the crowd....

I don't carry my own mic...but I have my own discs...only because I can practice and the arrangement is always the same....

I'm one of those singer's that keeps track of rotation...but gave up askin' who's next a long time ago....quality is important not quanity....

most KJs are great but I've also seen the ones I prefer not to sing with....on many occasions I've carried the equipment and the show....

Why pile onto Malibu Jesus, Brian? I don't think his comments were, "Way out there" or drug inspired.

He made some good points, but made the mistake of using some poorly chosen idioms.

Rather than launch a personal attack, list the points you disagree with and try to make an argument as to why you disagree. Perhaps you could forward those to him on two stone tablets...

I have no problems with Malibu!

I welcome his presence here. He just said something that I found "wrong", but I wasn't offended by it.

He was making an analogy. That's all! Words!

In no way did he advocate a disaster!

I apologize if what I said was taken wrong. I was just disagreeing with his analogy!

That, and I think the bar analogy is going away, with the popularity of home machines, and regular businesses are doing karaoke. Restaurants, corporate events, etc.

Matt

Karaoke is about fun, people who see a 6 year old get up and sing in front of a crowd cant help but smile. As far as personal equiptment goes, if a singer asks for a mixer adjustment, to use his own mic, or discs. I dont see it as an attack, That person may think his low line pioneer mic sounds better than my sm68 beta. Who are we to judge? As long as the crowd is having fun and it doesnt get out of hand , why not cater to people? Maybe youll even make new friends, I have xtra channels on my mixer, ill even set them up for picky regulars, Good service and attention to detail go a long way. Chances are that picky guy/girl wanted to use his equiptment at a different show and was told no. Now he will spread the word about how you go the extra mile to keep people happy.......just a thought
btw..this is just my opinion and not gospel...not all will agree

Hear hear! ranger!

Treat a singer well and they will be back. Treat a singer like crap and most will go down the street to where they are treated with respect.

That one can be etched into the tablets LOL
