I just ran across this article, and thought you might all find it amusing- especially ones in CA:

It's odd that the karaoke booth phenomenon is only now catching on in California.

I've owned and operated a mobile karaoke booth for years.

I call it my car!

Reminds me of a scene from "American Idol" I saw last Monday Night. Where Ryan Seacrest brought an Auditioning Young Lady to sing Acapella in a bar and everybody walked out on her.. as you can guess. she won't be on the series, much past that show.

I haven't seen these booths here in California yet, but I think people will always find new places to make some nookie ... or whatever! A room is a room, I guess. I think the karaoke booth idea is great for recording. I know a guy that built a soundproof booth for singing in his home. It sure would come in handy for me, I sometimes like to record late at night and I'm sure the neighbors don't appreciate it! It would also come in handy if ya just wanted to go somewhere and SCREAM! They had the same problem out in Van Nuys Cal. ( porn capital of the world ). Lots of unsavory acts caused them to shut down. I also like to sing and record late at night after a gig. Luckily my studio is right next to a busy off ramp so no one ever complains even at 4 in the morning.
