Ok provided you have your speakers connected correctly, you should be getting sound from the mics without anything else needing to be hooked up.  Check this diagram & make sure you are turning the volume controls up.  There is a volume for every channel & a main volume that controls the overall volume of the channels.  Click on the pic to enlarge.

The volume controls on the mics shouldn't need to go more that 12 oclock, the computer will probably go a little lower.  Now tstart talking into the mic while turning the main volume up.  You should be hearing your voice now.  If not, it's possible you got bad cords.

If you have any other trouble like setting the effects up, let us know as well.  That was just a basic set up to get you sound.

I have a fender passport PA that sounds great for a home PA and you can get one from a few hundred dollars or more.  It's nice a portable if you want to take over to friends or families homes.
As for programs I've used both WinAmp and KaraFun. Both have free downloads and work just fine.  If you use WinAmp you'll need to download the karaoke plug in and they also have free plug in the will alter the pitch of a song that was recorded outside of your range.  Karafun has this feature built in.

Lonman:  thanks for the help.  I've had a blast tonight, me, myself and I hahaha sing in the spare room.  This equipment sounds great.  I dont hear alot of reverb though from the equilizer.  Maybe I dont have it set right. Ive been turning the knobs only above where the mics plugged in to adjust the sounds of my voice, but it isnt doing alot. Is there another way to adjust my voice not only volume, but effects?

thanks bunches and bunches  :D

Yes on the mic channel, there is a blue knob marked efx.  Start by turning that up about to 10-11 oclock.

In the middle there is another blue knob marked program - this is adjustable, it looks as though it will light up a light above it corresponding to the effect that is being chosen - figure one out that will sound good for a particular song, there is no 1 magical effect that will work with everything, although it does have a couple marked vocal effect, start with this to get familar with it then play around.  It also looks like there is a button under the program knob that will engage the effects, switch it on as well.

Now where the main volume knob is (the red one) to the left of it is 2 knobs & 2 buttons then another knob marked 'exf rtn' (blue knob), this is your main 'overall' effect volume, turn that up & you should start hearing the chosen effect.  Do it without music first so you can tell if it's working, then play the music - adjust accordingly.  You don't want the effect to overpower your voice - you really don't even want to know it's there until you don't have it at all - if that makes sense  :D
