sure you can. you go from the board into the sub, the from the sub to the tops. the sub has a crossover that will take out the frequencies that the sub is handling from the signal it sends to the tops.

Any recommendation on the sub? I know EZ has sub that can pair with my EZ speakers, but cost is about 600 for one.. I can try to squeeze this in, but will be this overkill? My basement is about 30x20.

Overkill is subjective - my home system consists of 2 15" cabs & 2 18" subs - approx. 3400 watt (max). Depends on what you really are expecting.
You only got a single cabinet right now correct? I'd go for another cabinet before getting a sub - may be all you'll need.

Playing devils advocate, it could be that adding a sub is all you need. What's your end goal? If you want more sound or coverage in the same frequency ranges you are currently reproducing, then another cab is the way to go. If you want a deeper sound you can "feel" more, then adding a sub could be all you need. The great thing is, adding one or the other doesn't mean you can't go further later. Personally, if you aren't worried about neighbors and you like the current coverage, I'd add a sub. You're going to get a lot more sound either way.
