I would just like to have an efficient way to create my own karaoke tracks. I have a lot of singers that do mash-ups or just replace lyrics entirely with their own when they sing. Some of them have asked me about creating discs for them for some of the mash-ups they have done. I also have singers come up and ask where they can get a copy of a mash-up a singer did.

Until this thread popped up, I had not given any serious thought to creating these for singers, but now my interest is up.

First of all; what is a mash up? There is an efficient way to make your own karaoke tracks. It's called karaoke Builder Studio. I have made close to a thousand of my own karaoke tracks with that software. I've got it down to an hour to make a really high quality tracks. If you want something badly enough; you'll learn how to make your own files.

Mash up? A combination of two different songs combined to make one. This would be a 'mashup' song. Classic DJ type mix.

A mash-up would be a combination of two popular songs or tunes made as one. An example of this could be Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies" merged with "The Andy Griffith Show" (look it up on YouTube).

It's not quite a medley, with clear delineations between songs blended together. It's more of a re-imagining of both songs using elements from both at the same time.

For a contemporary karaoke example, you can insert a lot of "Paper Airplanes" into "Love the Way You Lie."

No a medley combines parts of songs in a definitive sequence where each song is still retained as it's own. A mashup blends both songs over the top of one another - singing one song completely over a different song entirely. Here is another example.

My little Star Trek dudes dance almost in perfect sequence to this one too lol.

Good to know that I can still learn something new every day. So it's more like a song parody than a medley. It's the same theory as a parody but the lyrics don't have any relation at all to the original song, right? Kind of like watching The Wizard of Oz while listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon.

Just go to youtube and search on Mashup. Just make sure you have some free time though. I always get sucked in.

No a parody is taking a song & changing the words completely to the original music but still singing it like the original - Weird Al, Bob Rivers/Twisted Tunes - those are paradies. They still sound like the original song with only different lyrics.
A mashup is just more like a club dj mixing two songs of the relative same beat/sound together to make it sound like they were one song to begin with.

That's what Karaoke Master from IPE Music is for. Chris, if I can create tracks with this software, ANYONE can...

I've had it awhile but check www.ipemusic.com

Might still be around....

It is it's own animal. A mashup is a mashup. Taking two or more songs and combining them into something new.

This is my all time favorite. When they start trading verses, it's amazing...It sounds like an intentional duet done in a studio. He even made a video.

I could not find Karaoke Master on the IPE website. But I did find it at ZZSounds.

The Power Karaoke converters don't read the words...they make a video of the output. Like playing a song and then recording the video on your DVR.

PowerKaraoke said yesterday, in the thread entitled "CDG Editor" that they also have this technology, not quite ready, has some limitations but will be released soon.

Well then that is a game changer. Looking forward to it.

And it is ready. Today we have released Karaoke CD+G Creator that has CD+G import. It works with most CD+G songs. For clean fonts it usually makes one or two spelling errors in the entire song. If the font is more condensed, import may not work that good. But for major manus it does a great job. Also at the moment only English songs are supported, and also no duets. But it is a good start and I am very happy with the results.

I have made a tutorial video that shows how it works. Karaoke Video Creator that will allow to convert CD+G to high resolution videos will follow soon.

The only issue i see is that a pirate can now torrent every karaoke song in existence and change the screens to something completely different, IE: his own logo or even a different manufacture.

This is gonna make it a tough road for the pirate hunters unfortunately.

Fantastic!

What about an LRC player? Does your hosting software already support that?

Next, can you (in the future) make it so you can play text-timing based karaoke from the synchronized lyrics tag field?

Our player does not support LRC yet, but it is just a matter of parsing the text file, as we have MIDI karaoke player that uses timing information to render words. It is a thing we plan to do.
