I was using PCDJKJ prior to going to Sax and Dotty as this is by far the easiest program to use by my opinion. The only problem I am having is that my originally ripped CDG's were set up differently as far as title, artist etc. I am now getting some files that pull up with the artist name and song in the same field, can I edit these from show presenter? Any help would be reatly appreciated.

It depends on how it's named. I think it would be a simple conversion. if it's named artist-title then the only change you need to make is to name it Artist(space)-(space)title. then import into sax& dotty's database using the artist - title naming convention. The hard part is doing it for all of your songs as I don't know if it can be done globally.

while KJfilemanager is a good program. I believe you will still have to go one song at a time to rename them the way you want to. KJfilemanager, unless he changed it, will not rename in a different naming format than orriginally presented.

If all or most of the files have switched fields ie - artist in title field etc etc
KJ filemanager can do it all at once - A very simple and complete program

Before you buy any software, and I agree K J Filemanger is the way to go if you need software, give us an example of file name format your files are in...it may just be as simple as checking a different file format input when you import your songs into Sax N Dotty.
Also generally when the song tile and artist name both come up under one "field" it is because there are not spaces around the hyphen...example
Artist-Song will come up under the same "field" , but Artist - Song will come up with the artist in the artist field and the song in the song field.

Ok, never mind I see DannyG already covered this.

www.debssoftware.com has a renamer that will bulk rename the files in the method you need.

* Problem: (Artist and Title) appear in same field!
* As explained, your songs naming convention is out of order *
* Ofcourse you could Manually Edit all of them. 'Pain In The Neck'

1. KJ File Manager
2. CDG AutoName
3. KJ Pro

As these Programs serves their purpose Very Well...

NONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED SOFTWARE WILL FIX IT (Artist and Title in the same field) AUTOMATICALLY!

So your back to Manually Editing before any of them can do anything!

As the term 'One of My BEST INVESTMENTS' was mentioned by Jamkaraoke...

mmallery consider one of your Best Investments to be a program that COULD AUTOMATICALLY repair songs where the (Artist and Titles) appear in the same field.

CDGFix

It's ADVANCED naming logorithm... Makes your problem SIMPLE!

Actually KJ Filemanger can fix it automatically by highlighting the songs that need to be fixed and then use the split a field option.

Above link will handle any operation you want. I changed 13 k from Cline, Patsy to Patsy Cline in a couple of operations the duets took a separate step.

It is the best renamer I have used yet and its free...

I found an absolutely wonderful program that has been a godsend for me for renaming song files and it does it fairly automatically. It is called CDGFix (www.cdgfix.com). It is set up to fix lyrics and rip your karaoke CDs, but it can rename your files in a snap. All of my cdgs were named in a convention not recognized by my karaoke software so I just opened the whole folder with CDGFix and resaved them in the correct format. It does the whole folder at one time and works like a charm.

You can even make mass changes to your files. Say you want to change the name of the disc on every signle file...it is a one step process. If an artists name is spelled wrong repeatedly, you can do a find and replace. I'm telling you, the program is amazing and has saved me hundreds of hours and is well worth the $70 price tag.

It did take me a little while to figure out all of the features, but if you get it and need some help, I would be glad to be of service.

I just had to rave about a few more of the features of CDGFix:

It can automatically change the format of artist listings from Lastname, Firstname to Firstname Lastname or vice versa.

It can automatically change your titles to all caps or all lowercase or uppercase just the first letter of each word.

It can automatically change leading or trailing A's and The's.

You can create songbooks, find duplicates, load and write ID3 tags, and much more.

You can rip SCDGs (and I believe NEO's), and use the scdg.cfg file to automatically discover song titles and artists.

It's definitely worth checking out!

Ok, between you and Swoop, I think I'm convinced, and I could use many of the features of this program, including converting SCDGs. My question is about user friendliness, and the help section? Seems like that was an issue for me before when looking at this program. :withstupid: ..........Ron

Hi Ron,

Yes, I have to admit that the help section really sucks! I was motivated enough though that I kept at it until I figured it out myself. If you decide to give it a shot, I'm available for questions. :)
