I added 624 purchased downloads last year for an average of 52/month.

This does not include discs that were ripped and added to our system (we don't track that).

We added 1,887 new tracks total in 2016 - including bulk disc buys and requested downloads. Breaks down to avg 157 new tracks per month. Only at 24 new tracks in 2017 so far.

Great, but you don't have any online listings to begin with so it's kind of moot to brag.

In 2016, I added 1665 selections including disc and download. No duplicates.

In 2017, I added 29 selections including disc and download. No duplicates.

MOST of the requests i've been getting this year aren't actually available on karaoke at all, or just plain hard to find tracks due to out of print discs.
So only at 64 total new songs for the year here. This includes a couple discs (Zoom 2017) I bought as well. And except for the 2 discs (which had a couple requested songs), they are all requests. Haven't bought any monthly subscription since Chartbuster and Pop Hits went under - no point in filling up a book for no reason other than just to make it look big. Make my money count and buy stuff people actually ask for instead of anticipating and hoping it gets done like back in the early days of disc buying. It was just such a waste. Big books mean nothing if the songs that are really wanted to be sung aren't in them!

I have purchased 54 requests since season started in Nov 2016, and only 5 of them have been sung. So much for buying what they want.

I just reprinted my song books so I hope that will get some new stuff sung.

Every one I've purchased was at the very least sung the night I got it for them.

In my case I don't connect to the internet with my show computer and I don't have another computer at my venue for downloading. I can see that I too would probably have 100% of the new songs sung IF I purchased them that evening.

What I am finding is that a request does not guarantee that it will be a "big hit", and have some lasting appeal.

i definitely does not guarantee a big hit, that's for sure, but it's got to be better to have 54 songs of 54 purchased performed than 5 of 54.
i see it like a craving for tacos. you want tacos, you go get tacos.
if someone brings you tacos a week later....

that's the problem i had when i bought discs, they wanted to sing the song, but bringing the tacos a week later when they want a burger now..

Which is why I quit doing the wait to buy. I found half the time the singer either never showed back up or no longer wanted to sing it when they did.

i understand the hesitation to buy on the fly for some, but in my mind it makes more sense. if i'm going to spend the money one way or another, i would want to at least have it used once.

The way I avoided wasting download purchases was to make people pay for them. Fortunately the host I'm doing download requests for doesn't seem to get that many requests.

Only downloaded 10 songs since January

I wouldn't dream of having a customer pay for something. When they pay for do you exclusively get to use it?

Lonnie your collection is amazing after all these years. I can definitely see why you can strictly buy requests, because you already have just about 90% or more of anything that might come up.

My collection just isn't there yet, so I buy requests and bargain shop discs with Billboard Hot 100 songs as they come available.

Funny thing is, while the selection might be large, it will never be complete otherwise I wouldn't be buying anything. I am still buying at least 1 new track a night. The most on one night was 15.

a smaller library can be a much better library than some 80k library if you have the songs your singers want (i think Lonnie says he get's that all the time) and the best way i see to get what your singers want...but what they ask you for.

though great deals are great deals, i just bought a deal of 600 discs with several CB essential sets, DK 1-99, and at least 50 Legends discs among others for $500. can't turn that down, but not my norm anymore.
