Recently as most of you may know I have started manually authorizing membership to the forums. This is due to a variety of reasons, however there are two main factors: 1) Spambots - These are robots that access the forum automatically via scripts and post various SPAM advertisments. Most cases these are inappropriate type material. 2) Banned members - these are members that for whatever reason (usually violating the forum rules) have been banned from the site. However, they have found ways in which to recreate an account in order to bypass their banned status. I am currently seeking ways to prevent these users from complete access from the website. If it is discovered that a member that has been banned and does recreate an account their IP address is being banned as well. Unfortunately by banning some IP addresses this effects other users that have not been banned. On another note: Many public email providers like AOL, YAHOO, MSN, GOOGLE, & HOTMAIL use spam blocking software that will block notifications unless you specifically unblock email coming from karaoke-forum.com, karaokescene.com, singersshowcase.com If you do not receive any emails from Us, please check your email spam blocker settings or contact your email provider. |

One other note: I just added a feature that will not allow users to login to SingerShowcase unless their Karaoke scene forum membership account has been activated. If your account has not been activated you must contact management to receive authorization. |

Hello, I'm a newbie even though I joined a while ago. I just wanted to thank you for your efforts to control spam. I have a blog and I understand how incredibly frustrating spammers and spambots can be. Thanks for staying on top of things! - S.A.D. |
