Frankly I am tired of all the legal arguments that favor the manus. Which side are you on? The thread "straight from the horses mouth" totally psses me off. It has no proof and only promulgates Sound Choice's lies.

We need to form an association and tell them what we want and what we will accept. This forum would be the perfect platform to do so but we are too busy bowing down to them and accepting their rules THIS IS AMERICA!!!

Newbies come on here all the time and ask questions over and over again. And I will patiently resolve their problems over and over again without sarcastic remarks.

I will establish one rule WHEN YOU POST HERE LEAVE YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR!!

I don't think that the legalities of CDGs or whatever is the point of this thread, and I think it is sticky across all sections, so maybe you would be better off discussing that in a thread of its own.

Jeez Ollie, who's not leaving their ego at the door? You for one come on here and post with a pompous attitude many of the times as if you were the only one with the real advice.

ROFL I am an old kettle a bit rusty on the outside but well seasoned on the inside. I have been washed with gravelly creek water and beer. Camp fires and wood stoves have cooked many stews and meals with me.. I have withstood heat for many days providing a hot meal 24/7.

totally understand that ... I loved the cast iron pots and skillets. Once tempered, they were darned near impossible to ruin!

I learned a new trick If you burn something in a cast iron skillet boil coke in it. Then you can get the stuff out Wash clean but you have to season again by covering with Crisco and heating in the oven.

Matt I walked up to the checkout at Wallies with a Lodge cast iron skillet. An older gal I have talked to many times was checking out? I set it down and asked her "Do you know how to use this?" She picked it up and waved it at me. "You might wanna ask my ex!!"

All of a sudden we were both in hysterics and nobody didnt have a clue what was going Just a few who watched the whole episode.

Would JD be in charge of monitoring all the x-rated inuendo?

I think Jeff's ideas about having certain forums for reviewing songs and equipment would really make this the place to be for karaoke info. I know it has been done in various threads but to tell you the truth, the search function doesn't narrow things down very well and is extremely time consuming to use. So if there was a way to keep those particular forums in the forefront and index them somehow it would be better.

For some reason when I first came upon this forum I thought you had to be a paid subscriber to the magazine to become a member (I'm getting there, I'm getting there). There was a period of time when I would link to it from a search and not be able to view the topic. Then suddenly one day I could and then I joined. I don't know if others out there had that perception but maybe a welcome page or having something always in the forefront up top for those first happening upon the site might make it more inviting. (I know there is the little orange welcome banner but it doesn't really jump out at you and when you go to rules it starts off with YOU MUST--was thinking a hello, welcome, this site is about...., please read and follow the rules might be less intimidating.)

As far as bashing the newbie for inappropriate topics. I am neutral on the issue. First, this site is a private site paid for by the owner of the site. This is not a democracy when it comes to saying whatever you want to say. The owners and moderators have been pretty open on what you can say but that doesn't give you the right to say whatever you want to. It's similar to going to the local community center and posting a escort service ad on the bulletin board because you didn't know that those type of ads were not wanted. If you go to the local community bulletin board, you should ask what type of postings are allowed and often those requirements are posted, just like it's posted here on this BB.

A couple of suggestions to may be cut down on these types of postings. How about a newbie question section, not just introduction section? This section would allow newbies to ask "trivial" questions. Also, please use the sticky feature on the BB, for such topics that gets asked many times. Even have some the veterans and moderator write some comprehensive guide to things like which software are available and what types of mixers are recommended, why the pirated hard drives are not appropriate subject to ask questions about, etc. It can be amended once in a while to include new information but putting that as a sticky will give people a lot of information before they venture in to other sections.

I think this will cut down a lot of questions that gets asked a lot for newbies in a centralized location so we don't hear about "search the forum" versus "i couldn't find the information" arguments in the future.

All good suggestions..

I'm on some other boards, and a minimum number of posts are required to access deeper into the forum.

Those that wish to be a part of the complete forum, "Prove Themselves" in the upper levels.

Moronic posts, spam posts, adult posts, are weeded out easily..

Mods should be allowed to mod..

Members should be allowed to post, within reason.. (Site Guidelines and rules)

I am upper staff at a major midwest outdoor website, What we do is not
allow guests to see any of the pics in all of the many different forums we
have. And of course, cant PM any other members. We are pretty lenient
with posts as long as there isnt any personal attacks against other members
or sponsors. We even allow a few swear words! :P
I like to come here to get away from the whiners most forums have.

Post subject:  Re: Hmmm how to increase our numbers?

To me, the site would be less intimidating to newcomers if members allowed the moderators to be the ones to either remove the inappropriate post or PM the newbie to set them straight. Maybe I am naive as to just how much time the moderators actually have to check on these things but it would save a new person from being piled up on by sarcastic or impatient people who may have even jumped to a conclusion about the intent of the post.
