Hello -

First let me say hello to everyone as I am new to this board. I just found it today. I do karaoke in the nw Chicago suburbs. Anyways.....

I bought a brand new Pioneer CD-V10G (dual tray system) in August and yesterday it went out on me. Here is what happened:

-put disk in (soundchoice cdg disk) tray 1
-music and words start
-20 secs into song it makes an odd sound, music stops, screen goes blue
-after this happens any disk i put in doesn't get recognized. Both trays are like this.

This machine is under warranty so i'm having it fixed but can anyone tell me if this is caused by something i might have done? Or does it sound like it's a defective machine? I have a friend who's used these machines for a year or two w/o any problems.

Thanks.

A few things I've seen is ... people take the feet off and screw the bottom of the player into a shelf or what ever grabs their fancy. What that does is twists the player enough to cause the disc to rub the loading trays while in the playing carriage. This in turn causes the disc to "read" funny -

My advise is if you rack mount your 10G, flip a shelf over and mount it to the top.

The other one I saw was a person drive a sheet metal screw through the carriage assembly trying to mount it

In addition to what Sammy said, the only thing I've seen/heard of with a player that new is accidentally loading a disc improperly, or not centered, where the drawer sort of wedged it in while closing. But normally when that happens the drawer gets jammed.

Yes I did mount it to a rack tray. I screwed it in using the screw holes where the feet were screwed into. I assumed this would work fine but maybe it caused the problem like you said. I talked to another friend of mine and he mounts his 10G by removing the feet and using large strips of velcro. Says it works fine for him.

I'll do that when i get the player back I think. Thanks for the info! :)

when I had my V10, I used the side screws AND a tray... but yeah, shock can still travel into the unit. Many rackmountable cases don't protect against that too much.

Yup, that's what did it - the bottom of the player is not flat -

Your friend probably used 4 - 6 pieces of velcro where each foot was

Like I said, flip that shelf upside down and mount the player from the top

Be sure to follow the instructions when you turn your unit off -
