So Im using an Alesis Nano Compressor to duck the fill music with the announce mic.. The settings are sort of critical When the mic is turned on I want the crowd noise to decrease the the volume to a certain level ( this works when the singer is in route to to the stage) And of course when I talk I want the fill down to nothing... So I run the threshold about 9 and the ratio about noon.. I run the knee hard and use peak limiting to take full advantage of the attack and delay times which determines the time (attack) when I start talking to the duck and the (release) delay when  I quit talking and the fill volumes up..

Does anybody do it different or have more ideas on the subject?
