I think you use one of these Mackie's......   do you suggest I run My CD+G thru the 9/10 11/12 Channels instead of the Tape In ?

Oh, but of course!   :D
I don't care what mixer anyone runs, the tape in's should not be used.  Even if you have to use 2 separate channels to get both inputs, do it.  The channel strips are better for everything as you can send the signal to the monitor, add effects if needed, & most importantly - EQ capability.  Not all songs are recorded equally & some do require eq adjustments.

Hi Lonnie.  Does this still hold true if I have a DJ mixer and I want to hook it up to my CFX12 mixer?

BTW, congrats MrOctober!  CFX12 is worth the money.

First question, do you really NEED both mixers hooked up at the same time?  I knew one host here that ran a main mixer for karaoke - for the mics, then ran the players through a dj board that would run into the main mixer.  I asked why he didn't just use the main mixer for all of it, he told me he didn't know he could run a player through the main board - now he does.

A dj board is a little different than just a player.  I have hooked a dj board to the channel strips - keeping the dj board eq flat all the way through, ran it a little less than unity & adjusted the gain on the main board accordingly.  But if it works for you to hook it through the tape in, then that's ok too.  It has eq'ing & effects, etc... and a player hooked into a dj board first is still getting the eq'ing done on the dj board, a player plugged straight into the tape input does not.

Good question.  I use the DJ mixer to cue music from either player A or player B, with beat matching.  If there is a way to do that using only the CFX12, then I would rather use the CFX12 only.

No not with the CFX alone.  So I take you dj while karaoke as well?  No real need to beat match for karaoke alone.  I can see cue'ing the idle player, but you don't even need a mixer for that - unless you are bringing it to the beginning of the music - which isn't even necessary in karaoke as some songs actually have lyrics that start before the music.

I only do weddings and private parties, so I combine DJ music and karaoke.  This is why I find it necessary to use a DJ mixer in addition to the CFX12 mixer.
