Being a new startup in Salisbury UK I realise I should have all my electrical items tested. In the U.K. We call it a PAT test, can't remember what it stands for. Then a certified sticker is placed on every item, with date tested.

This seems important to protect the public and myself against electrocution, and public liability.

I have several questions here,
Do most of the KJ's here have their equipment tested regularly?
Have any of the KJ's suffered from a dangerous electrical malfunction?
Do the KJ's largely have public liability insurance?

Thank you for any replies in advance,

Robbie

In the US, equipment must* meet a UL standard before it can be sold to consumers. There is no further authorized inspection after that I know of.

*While the standard should always be followed, some equipment does enter the market without being certified.

Legal Requirements

It is stated within the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 that all employers have a legal duty to provide a safe working environment for their employees, visitors and or any contractors who visit their site. The safety of your employees and visitors is largely in your control and you as the employer has a legal duty to prevent any harm coming to either party. Ensuring that all electrical equipment used in the workplace is fully maintained, and for that reason these compliance checks are in place.
