First . . . A Universal Truth . . . Most people CANNOT clap to the beat of a song, even if their life depended on it.

That said, I witnessed an amazing cure for the problem last night. . . It's called old age.

Went to see Crystal Gayle and Jerry Lee Lewis in concert.

Crystal opened with a nice set of some of her, and her sister Loretta Lynn's, great songs.

Jerry Lee then came slowly, very slowly, shuffling on stage. He sat down at his piano and the years just melted away.

As he tore(spot on) through many of his hits, I was struck by a sudden realization - The 98% over 60 years old audience was clapping and rockin' to the music . . . AND THEY WERE ON-BEAT!

The only thing I can figure is this -

The folks who have been off beat their entire lives have gotten so old that the reaction time between their brain sending the off beat clap signal has gotten so much slower that the actual clap is happening ON THE BEAT!

So there you have it . . . An actual BENEFIT of growing old!
