I have been burnt by accepting checks but that wasn't because it wouldn't clear. It came down to me insisting on getting the check the day of the show. The very next show they didn't have the check so I didn't unload the equipment, hopped back in the car and went home.

You should have went back the next day with some friends and ordered a really big meal and then when they brought you the check, you should've said... I'm sorry but when you pay me what you owe me than I'll pay what I owe you.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a restaurant or bar. Itvwas a nonprofit organization that helps the Mentally Ill. The gig wasn't to provide funds but to give their members a social outlet.

8) You can then write it off as a charitable contribution on your taxes since you didn't get paid. The administrator for the program should be willing to write you out a receipt so you can take it off yours taxes.

Facts. Until I found this forum, it hadn't even occurred to me that this was an issue.

And even then, now that I know? In my travels, it's probably 80% pirate shows. Heck, SmoothEdge is probably the only person whose shows I have been to that I can safely vouch for as not pirating stuff.

I am just down the street from Smoothe, and you could have made it "two"

You are still on my list! Smooth's one show just happens to be less than a mile from my one work stop when I'm down there, and I'm typically staying in Ft. Myers.

BTW, I take summer and fall off for travel, so I am not doing shows from May through October.

I was just down to one of Smoothe's show this past April. If I had known that you were around there, I would have taken an extra day or so to visit you as well.

I'm in Sarasota, and Smoothe is in Venice/North Port. That is only 15 to 30 miles apart depending on where the shows are.

I usually see him in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area.

Cue, any time you are going to head down there, let me know. I'm there for work once a month or once every other month.
