We've all had venues that "Seemed like a great Idea" at the time, but turned out to be nightmares due to ownership, clientele, singers, venue condition, etc.

My latest is a bar/restaurant that a couple of friends just picked up as hosts.
We drove 45 minutes to get there to support them on their first night.

Food wasn't half bad and Karaoke time rolled around.

First song begins and owner? manager? tells KJs they have to turn it down . . . waaaaay down. Music was below speaking voice level before she was happy.

We had a group of about 15 supporters who let her know we had come to her establishment to sing and wanted normal sound levels but she would not budge.

We all sang one song and then left as a group letting her know we would not be back.

Why even bother offering Karaoke if you're going to force it to be just background fill?

Under those conditions, your friends need to say... Bye Bye.

Yeah . . . It's a shame because they are located right on the river, have decent food, are paying decent, and they have an awesome outside area that would be killer for Karaoke in the summer months.
