I use bumper music and I use Karma's filler feature to seamlessly transition between singer-bumper-singer-bumper, etc.

I don't have to do anything but load a hundred songs at the top of the cue and forget it. No sliders to turn up or down, no second laptops, no ancillary programs running in the background.

I can also clear the filler list and change the songs to a different set of songs with a click or two. Why all the extra stuff?

Not sure if your question was directed at me or not mrmarog but here is my “Why all the extra stuff?
As I stated in my original post it is probably just me and the way I want it to work for me.

As you well know that in Karma bumper and karaoke share the same playlist and when starting a gig you would first load bumper and then karaoke as submitted. Well the bumper music is always at the top of the playlist with karaoke placed below bumper in the playlist. I want to be able to see what the next karaoke song title will be without having to scroll downward each time.
Karma has separate media type panels, you can select Karaoke, or DJ or Video media and have a selection specific panel open up…why couldn’t that be done for playlists?
It seems it would be easy enough for Bob to have separate playlists panels but someone else can put forth that idea…and even take credit for it should Bob actually incorporate it. (Yeah sure)
I just don’t want to deal with him or his tiny man syndrome.

m3u lists are a big help as well like djdon mentioned.
i keep lists for halloween, Christmas, Patriotic days, etc. to just load as needed.
i don't see why he would not put the fill in music on a separate list either.

For me, the 2nd laptop will always be along both for emergency backup (which has come in very handy on a small number of occasions) and for buying songs requested on the fly. Since it's already going to be there, also using the 2nd laptop for bumper and filler music means (for me) one LESS thing to otherwise carry or worry about.

There's no wrong way to do this, just whatever we each like is great.

^^Exactly how I do bumper music^^ - running continuously from the 2nd laptop connected to a separate slider channel. I also use it to download tracks from singers’ requests and as backup in case something goes wrong with the show pc. This is more comfortable and convenient for me.

I echo ElementaryP - no wrong way to do this. I should mention that I have a permanent gig and my rig is stationary. 8)

Me too, my backup is connected to the internet for buying on the fly, lyric searches (for those that ask what song has this lyric) and bumper music.
