I have not been to karaoke in several years, so I do not know when this became a thing, but I've noticed that many guys hold the microphone upside down in the air and strut around the bar. If you do this, I hate to say this because you are probably the coolest guy to get to know, but I think you look like a complete douchebag. Maybe I'm just too old to understand you "bro" types. :roll:

I don't care how they hold the mic as long as it is dropped, swung, flung. As long as I can hear them.

Yep, NOT dropped, swung, or flung. Stupid phones sometimes never recognize speech to text.

When smoking was allowed in bars, singers used to hold their cigarettes against the microphone, then between verses or during instrumental breaks they would hold the microphone down to have a puff.
