Does anyone know if the FULL version of I'd Do Anything For Love was ever released? I know, I know, a lot of you have rules against long songs, but on a slow night, I have no problem with them. I have some Meat Loaf enthusiasts at my shows, and would love to see the full version done. I, too, am a Meat Loaf fan. Bat Out Of Hell 1 & 2 are personal favorites of mine. Bat 3 had its good moments, too.

I believe I sang the full version a few month's back. I forgot who made it though.

8) I found two long versions on U Tube 8minutes 31 seconds, and 9 minutes 51 seconds. These look home made since I didn't see any manus that I know of logos?. As far as what I have DK seems to be the longest version solo of the song 6 minutes 35 seconds and I also have a duet Legends version over 8 minutes.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that version would be based on the music video, which has a story segment in the middle of it.

<-----closet meatloaf fan.

<-----will probably mangle meatloaf for smooth next time I'm in Florida.

I sing "For Crying Out Loud" (9 minute song) once in a blue moon. But, it's on a SC disc.

That's why I *shouldn't* do it.

Then again, it will help me live up to my screen name...

I limit them in the last hour, hour and half. Before that, I don't.

I've made many deals with the devil in my time, but I draw the line at playing shortened versions of classic songs. Especially with "story" songs, if you cut anything out then what's the point in having it at all?

My mentor of long ago, rest his soul, thought I was crazy to put long or uncut versions of songs in my book -- it was the only thing we really disagreed on. He used the shortest version he could find of every song. When he went digital (one of the first to do so) he used the duration attribute in his file list, and wherever he had duplicates or triplicates, he'd delete all but the shortest version regardless of manufacturer or quality or anything else. He didn't even keep a full version of Me & Bobby McGee in his book, and I thought that was going too far!

I can only say that after almost 20 years of keeping all the longest, uncut songs in my book, it has very rarely come back to bite me. Surprising maybe, but most customers just don't want that much stage time at one go -- they try it and find out how much work a long song can take! :) And if push comes to shove, I can and have asked people to change from a long song to a shorter one when it's too busy, and no one has ever been less than gracious in complying. People like to know they are helping out the show.

I'd hate to do or attend a show of all 3 minute songs. In music, dynamics is everything. Maybe tonight I'll do Dazed And Confused at my own show [ducking for cover]

I don't limit beginning or end, if I can fit it in - it's yours to sing. I will fade out an outro of a song once there is no more singing and the singer has left the stage - which 99% of the time it's as soon as the closing splash screen / credits come up.

I am like Lonman, I don't force edits on anyone. I have a short version of Hotel California and it's a pretty good quality version but I have rarely had it chosen for anyone to sing.

Long songs? I have a problem with singers who always intentionally pick the longest songs they can find in my library, but that's another story that's been discussed before.

I always ask the host to fade me out at "It's the End of the World as We Know It" because that gets so repetitive.

I have a guy that does that. I just council him away from that behavior.
