Post subject:  Hurricane Party Tonight

Tonight I am filling in for host that went on vacation. I would never guess that a hurricane might disrupt my usual very busy show. I sent out an email blast and let everyone know that we are still on for tonight.

Irma is still a very long ways out and the latest tracking shows it possibly skirting up the east coast. If it goes there it will pose no threat to my area. When hurricane Charley hit in 2004 in came in about 40 miles south, and we felt no effects, not even rain.

We were planning on driving our motorhome to California in about 10 days, but things might need to change. Buy a rabbit's foot or two for us. :D

PS I am going to try and promote the 5 hurricane songs I have.

Hurricane Irma looks a lot like Camille in 69 which hit Gulfport Ms.
If it increases in strength and takes a bead anywhere near your locale
Throw your pictures, keepsakes, and family heirlooms, in the motorcoach
And boot scoot boogie your Azz outta there! Be safe.everyone,

8) If It hits Gulfport Miss, that's the area where hurricane Katrina landed, hopefully this time New Orleans won't get hit as well, the last time it was just a glancing blow there and look what happened.

Hurricane Irma is battering the Caribbean Island as of this hour, 12:30 pm pst. Heavy damage reported as the monster hurricane headed to Puerto Rico. Details on Irma’s impact for SouthEast U.S. remain uncertain, but it could still hit Florida.

mrmarog, please take all necessary measures to keep you and your family safe. Looking forward to your visit.

We're still trying to get all our shows back on track after Harvey flooded Houston. One of our venues North of Houston is still without power. Losing 2 gigs a week (one karaoke and one DJ) there at the moment. Lost my Saturday, Monday & Tuesday the week of the storm. Monday cancelled this week again. A wedding on the 3rd rescheduled. So yeah... Y'all better hope it doesn't hit the east coast.

My grandson was working this summer in Coco Beach Florida.
(Electrical Engineering Internship for Nasa)
They just received the evacuate orders yesterday..
He's renting a car, (maybe) and headed to Atlanta for a plane ride home.

You're right about that Lone Ranger! Just last week the mayor of New Orleans fired
Some big honchos who were responsible for maintaining the river overflow pumps,
only a few were in running order. Not a good thing if you live 6 feet below sea level.
To be hit at this time would most likely wipe it off the map.

Last night was slower than anticipated, but I still had 19 singers. No one felt like singing any storm related songs but we did have 2 Steely Dan songs sung.

Traffic heading north on almost any road was heavy to extremely heavy. About 99% of all gas stations had no gas and if they did it was E85, premium, or diesel. There is no water on the shelves at any stores. Generators are long gone, and gas cans are all gone.

Florida is learning from what happened in Texas. If Miami gets hit the damage will be enormous, Much bigger than Houston and surrounding areas mostly because of all the high rise condos built on every square inch of the coast line.

My wife and I are staying put and still planning on leaving for California next Friday. The storm will have passed by this Sunday and we will know a lot more.

I'm in SW Florida and it's getting pretty scary as of 9/7 at about 10pm. Irma has shifted slightly west and still remains a category 5 hurricane with 175mph winds. It would appear that Irma will start from key west and hit the right center portion of the state and literally staying there all the way through till it reaches Georgia, etc. It is approximately twice the width of Florida and will wreak havoc on the entire state before it's done. I'm leaving in the early morning and heading north, probably to see my son in Knoxville.

I have currently cancelled 6 shows thus far and will probably cancel more once we get back and deal with the aftermath. God bless all who are in harm's way.

I purchased 20 sheets of plywood in 2004 when Charley hit 40 miles south of me. I have several large openings with plywood all cut and ready to install. The rest of my windows are too difficult to enclose. My next door neighbor had a new tile roof installed 6 months ago by a roofer that had never installed a tile roof and the quality is horrible!!!!!!

That roof next door is my biggest concern. I have a 4 foot diameter (not circumference) oak tree in my front yard, 15 feet from house and 15 feet from my driveway. My motorhome is in a covered storage area, but it has hundreds of loose objects all over the place in the 20,000 sq ft. steel awning.

Most of my neighbors are staying and most have no hurricane protection. I have lived in Florida since 1975 and nothing has never been close to this ominous. So many concerns and so little time.

One of my staff who was evacuating from your general (and Smooth's specific) area said it took from 9am to midnight to get to just outside of Atlanta.

Stay safe down there, Floridians.

8) One thing is for sure earthquakes don't look so bad in California after seeing what went down in Texas, Mexico due to get hit by another Hurricane Katia, Irma about to ravage Florida like the whole state, and Jose picking up steam, just hope that one stays out to sea. One blessing though Rush Limbaugh after saying Irma is a hoax, brought on by climate change liberals, had to shut down operations and run for his life. I guess he didn't want to ride it out.

Prayers go out to all Floridians! If you're planning to riding out the storm, God be with you. If you're evacuating I hope you don't run out of gas and you get to a safe destination!

I survived Irma with the lose of a few pounds and some skin. It took 14 hours to prep my house for a major storm. I was beyond exhausted! Then we lost power for 25 hours. Fortunately my house stayed comfortable for the entire time with temps never above 77 degrees.

When I awoke this morning I had a massive amount of debris in my entire yard. Branches everywhere! Ten hours later I am mostly cleaned up.

Now I have to reassemble everything I dismantled (another 8 hours) then re-prepare for our trip to California and parts unknown.

Irma struck on my birthday 9-11

We lost our power for about 24 hours. The house was easy. I have those awning type shutters. It wasn't to terrible by us.
