While I have changed my company's name once, I wouldn't do it again. If that name has a great reputation, why change it? You can probably get back in the door if your potential customers remember that reputation. My name change had nothing to do with reputation. I decided to go with a more personal name for the company than what I originally came up with. Actually it was Frank from RoxBox that gave me the name that I use today. It was for the reason of reputation that while I toyed with another name change, that I finally decided to scrap the name change. That and it meant redesigning the company logo and developing a new website as well as Facebook page.

To me you only change a company name to change a failing status or merge with another company. If it was successful-that is the name you should use.

Change your name to "YAHOO KARAOKE GROUP" then join Yahoo groups.

Seriously though, if you're a terrible KJ, then yes change it on a daily basis... Wink!

I mostly agree. I have seen failing companies TRY a name change... but when you see the same people, everyone catches on really quick that it's the same old same.

I also might add if your company if moving to totally different market (such as a different state), and you don't have that many reviews, you might want to change the name for a fresh start... Of course, you can say "formerly {Business Name}" if you want to people to see your pedigree.
