We do.

SC8125?

Sorry if it bothers you, but the conventional wisdom on that one is wrong. We had permission to make that disc. That particular license agreement had a provision in it where the publisher could withdraw permission and we would be able to sell off existing stock but not make any new discs. They exercised that option, and we complied. 8125 isn't even rare (it actually sold more copies than a lot of discs that were on the market for longer).

A couple of the retailers up here back then had a 'recall' notice from SC (I saw a letter from the one I normally shopped at as they had it posted on the shelf above the disc rack) on that particular disc, of which one said they weren't going to send anything back but put them into a special price group (first signs of price gouging on that one - they shot up to $60 (twice what they were selling it for normally)). They thought it would be re-released at some point, sure they would have pushed them all over $100 or more right then & there if they'd have known. The other places all pulled the discs and returned (or so they said).
Even BC on the original SC board said they jumped the gun on that one and released before they had final ok, that they did have rights to release the instrumentals (which they already had on tapes) but did the graphic production under the assumption everything would be kosher - which turns out it wasn't and were forced to try to recall and stop selling anything further.

At the time, they decided to pull back as much product as possible in the hopes of negotiating a new license, figuring that it would look good that they voluntarily forewent the right to a sell-off. Didn't work out.

Historically that publisher worked on an informal basis, and we had an email chain indicating approval for release. They didn't "force" us to do anything--they had the right to pull it back, and they did. We pulled what we had, but we weren't legally required to do that. We weren't happy about it later when they absolutely refused to license it, but that's up to them.

Chip says a lot of things. I recommend putting him on mute. You'll be better informed.

There are plenty of people in the karaoke world who no longer trust anything that comes out of the Slep or is that the Clinton Foundation? It's all about the optics in today's world. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck; it's most like a crooked duck lawyer. Even many of your former advocates have abandoned your sinking ship. You have become irrelevant to most of the karaoke world. You're still trying to sell buggy whips to people who live in a world where people drive cars.

Same story years down the road... and yet, he still refuses to prove that it was legal with anything to substantiate his claim. Nothing. Ever.

Claiming it is legal over and over again won't make it legal.... but he won't put up or shut up either..

Perhaps the one that should be on mute is the one that refuses to substantiate what they say. I recommend you start telling the truth, but that's not going to happen anytime soon either is it?

Nope.
