I am using Compuhost 3.0 and when I rip a SCDG I get the Singer with the music all the time. Has anyone seen this problem. I would like to eliminate the sing assist on all the songs on SCDG disks.

Guess it depends on which brand discs they are, only scdg discs I have are DK & Chartbuster and none are multiplex.

The Panorama scdgs are multiplex. In my case there is an mpx button in Compuhost that I click and it removes the guide vocals, but you have to wait till AFTER the tune plays the first note before clicking mpx.

You should be able to click as soon as you hit play, you shouldn't need to wait to hear the first note.

That's just the way it actually works on my computer running Compuhost Lonnie. If I hit mpx before the first note sounds, the vocal still comes in.

In practice it doesn't matter because there's virtually always a note or two played before the singer comes in anyway

Weird. In Hoster (even when I was disc based for that matter), once I hit play - you can hit Multiplex before any music starts. It detects whether it's set to multiplex or not in the code, not the music.

Glad your problem is solved Linus. Lonnie I have to correct myself. I tested what you were saying and it does indeed work if I hit mpx right after I hit play whether a note plays or not.

Guess I must have been hitting mpx before play.

I was going to say that would be a major flaw in CH if it had to have the music start before the MPX could be turned off.

RoxBox's file converter used to have a way to remove the guide vocals when you ripped them. For some reason he decided to remove that feature. Glad I was able to rip my Nutech SCDGS before the change.

Most of the Nutech songs that I've ever listened to were terrible. Why would anyone waste their time ripping them to a hard drive?

I don't have much Nutech myself and none of the scdgs but in their defense...

1) at least some of their tracks from musicals are actually very good

2) They covered some songs nobody else has done.

3) Some of their other stuff is at least usable

4) The super cdgs are pretty inexpensive to take a flyer on. You wouldn't need all that many decent tracks to come out OK.

I will go along with BigJer's #2 statement. They did have several unique songs available only on NuTech discs.

They even have a few I prefer over the 'bigger' brands. Duran Duran - Come Undone comes to mind.

Actually that would be one of them for me too.

we'll just have to agree to disagree on that song. I think the music on the Sunfly disc sounds better and they have easier to read lyrics as well. If I was going to sing it myself, I'd probably put more lines on each page so you could see more of what's coming up but that's just me. I Prefer the line by line swipes as opposed to the page by page swipes. People who don't remember lyrics well appreciate getting a head start on the next page of lyrics.

The Nutech SCDGS are nowhere near as bad as the regular CD+G's with the exception of the duets, which they totally screwed up by not at least putting a letter in front of which part is singing but they didn't even do that. You have to know the song by memory to know when each singer is to come in. The audio and the timing of the wipes are definitely usable, in fact their version of U Got It Bad by Usher is more accurate than Sound Choice's version lyric wise. I have a singer that basically told me not to give him the Sound Choice version again because it is totally unusable because they screwed up the timing of the swipes so bad and was very pleased when I gave him the Nutech version the next time that he sang the song, told me that I better give him the Nutech version in the future.

not too many rappers in my neck of the woods, but I'm glad that your singer found a song to his liking.

The song isn't hip-hop but R&B. There is no rap in the song, pure singing.

Excuse me. Not many USHER fans/singers at the karaoke shows that I frequent. I've never heard the song at karaoke or on the radio.
