I'm the first to admit... I'm absolutely "anal" about loose cables and tripping hazards. Not only do they look ugly, but they can be down right dangerous. We ensure all cables are either covered with carpet or at least taped down securely prior to every show.

We've had carpet runners specifically prepared with 2" wide 'male'
Velcro sewn along the underside edges. It works beautifully in the one venue we play where the area is fully carpeted.

We use the same carpets at other venues with tiled or otherwise smooth floors, but tape them down with 3M Electricians Bundling Tape. It looks just like duct tape, but tears much more easily, and (here's the best part) it doesn't leave sticky goo on the cables like duct tape and some stage tapes do.

We also use black Velcro tapes to ensure cables are secured to the stands and not 'dangling' from speakers, for a much more professional look.

I've been to other karaoke shows where there are cables strewn about, and my first thought is... "Amateur!" and the second is "I sure hope he/she has liability insurance."

I use a floor mat to cover my wires and keep things neat and safe. I HATE tape. Gets the cables all sticky and nasty.

Have you tried "Electricians Bundling Tape"... usually available at electrical wholesale suppliers... Looks just like duct tape, but leaves NO residue on your cables. I've been using it for about six years, and love it.

I use Gaffers tape. It's the industry standard for any type of stage production. It's a cloth vinyl tape that will stick to anything, even carpet, and leaves no residue at all. It cuts by using your fingers. Don't need a scissors. It even comes in neon colors that really stand out and glows under a black light. It's great for glow parties also. I don't know how I would ever get by without it.

I use dark gray or black throw rugs to cover wires on the floor as needed, then use gaffer's tape as needed. Gaff tape is expensive but worth it.

I also use Sennheiser EW-112P transmitter/receiver sets if my speakers are too far away to run wires safely or efficiently.

I run wireless speakers too if my set-up is spread out too far. There always seems to be a power outlet near.

I run wireless speakers too if my set-up is spread out too far. There always seems to be a power outlet near.

I use the exact same setup as mrmarog for my wireless speaker setup.

3M 3903 tape...I think it's the same stuff as Earl is taking about. And runner rugs keeps my stuff neat and trip free.

That's some expensive duct tape.

I use Shurtape (Permacel) P665 gaffer's tape or ProTapes ProGaff.

I get the stuff at a local computer
supply store for about $8 a roll. Not really that expensive. Although I looked online and apparently there are a lot of places selling it for double that price.

I posted that just for reference. I get it elsewhere for less, but not $8 a roll.

What does the inside of your rolls say? What brand, part number etc?

I've scanned the bundling tape label... Now, let's see if I can post it. Might need some help.

I purchase this tape here in Canada from an electrical wholesale outlet. It sells for approximately $7.50 Cdn... which is now about eleven cents USD (Just kidding... probably around $6.00 or so.).. The only improvement I would like would be a change in colour to black instead of the duct-tape looking grey. Otherwise, I'm lovin' the stuff. It sticks well... doesn't leave residue... tears easily... and its relatively cheap... What more could you want?

(I guess I could have cropped the pic though... Oh well.)

$5.62 at last check. Might have to plan a vacation to Vancouver, my favorite city in the world, this summer. That's a very favorable exchange rate. (CAD1 = USD0.75)

If you plan on making the trip, make sure you'll be able to get back in. I've heard some horror stories about the border since Trump was made president. ;)
