what are some off-beat reminders that you've been kjaying for so many years?

for example, to show you where i'm going with this thread, while doing some spring cleaning around the house i found an old sheet of paper with an address for a karaoke party i once did for a 13 year old celebrating her birthday one september. i noticed that the date was 5 years ago. which means the girl is now fully 18, probably voted in this election, drives and either in college or about to go.

i don't know why, but that hit me like a left hook. couldn't believe it happened that long ago. i haven't seen her since but i'll always remember her as a little girl with all of her little friends. it was a sweet party. they were true 13 year-olds. there was nothing that hinted about them ever being older at their party.

recently, a singer stopped by and reminded me she won't be around next week on account of her hosting her son's birthday party. i told her i remember when she sang on my karaoke night pregnant days before she delivered oh and by the way how old is her son now. he's almost double digits.

say what? that was almost a decade ago....? no way

When people that celebrated their 21st birthday with you now have kids that celebrated their 21st birthday with you

at one venue, during my first year there 8 years ago a random local dude came by taking random pictures of people in the crowd. the venue finally banned him when folks complained that it was just too creepy that he continued taking all these pictures week after week. anyway he gave me a few pics to keep. i'm still at the venue 8 years later and decided to bring em to work one day. and realized none of the managers, staff who were with me 8 years ago are there now of course. i'm the only one. all these young managers and waitresses are laughing at the old uniforms they used to wear there and the lack of any flat screen tvs back then on the walls or ceilings. different floor rugs...
