haven't had a shutout running my own show, but when I was running the bowling centers karaoke system (covering for a host that had medical problems). we has some nights no one showed up so I just shut down and went home and spent the evening weekend with the wife. I would start at 8 and I think like maybe 3 times I was shut down by 10 and on my way home. but after a short while people realized I really working at making everyone sound great and also the music. didn't take long to build up a regular following that was their drinking and singing every night I was hosting.

now I have a facebook group that I send out event reminders every week to my regulars and also post some other karaoke related stuff in it. other hosts are welcome to join and post their weekly shows (but most don't). I figured if I could get other hosts to invite their friends they would come check out my show. and it works, I've had a few that have wandered in to check it out and they usually give me a comment about the sound.

Product 19, are you making an effort to get names, emails, phone numbers, etc from the people who do show up and contacting them to invite them to your shows?

i do. but i happen to work karaoke at different venues that are located in different parts of the city or county--sometimes way across the other part of town. so i know regulars who dig me won't travel and i wouldn't want to endanger them by asking them to travel across a city or to a different county just to support me.
