Rather than adding this year's Karaoke purchases to my new songs section I've decided to do a complete remake of my song book. This is the first complete printing in five years. What a pain!

Amen.....the cost of new books is approaching the startup costs of a kiosk system these days, so that's my plan next time my books need redone, which is likely within the year.

Mule, if you are using Excel and need any macros, let me know. I have about 10 of them for various things. Duplicate song finder is very helpful. It'll find almost every duplicate song that you got (the ones that are spelled the same, or just a little bit differently).

One of these days I'm going to write more code for it - to find the songs that are listed by a solo artist and again as their primary band (i.e. Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkle, Annie Lennox/The Eurythmics, etc)

I don't know if a kiosk is needed. Many people have smart phones, so just put your books online, for those who do not want books or have only a few books. They can go to your site and look them up.

Thanks Troy, I'm using tricerasoft song book creator. I've now got a fast printer but your right song books are expensive. Tell me more about listing my songs online? Is there a smart phone app?

Check out "Songbook Live" by Latshaw Systems. $11 per year.
Unlimited updates allowed. No special phone app required, just a smart phone & internet.

All working fine for me.

1st time in 5 years? Wow! I redo mine every 6 months to 1 year (usually closer to a year), if not the new section would be as big as the regular book since I print those with a larger font usually.

Was thinking that too! 1st time in 5 years for a complete overhaul?

Must have been using good hard binders instead of flimsy books with ED for them to last that long lol 8)

Same here, Lon. I update/print my books twice a year. I add pages of new songs every week, by 6 months time, all new songs are incorporated into the library. First listed by artists, & then listed alphabetically. Over 500 pages back to back (250 plastic sheet protectors). It’s just another part of doing business.

Having said that if will be different this year. It will be far in between or maybe once a year since I drop my yearly subscriptions & other monthly hits. Tired of buying whole packages & only 10% gets done. New songs are by requests only from my ‘Song Lists Request Board’.

Looking into the kiosk system, hopefully before mid or year end it will be up & running.

I don't update monthly. For several years now I've been using chartbusters yearly updates with some cherry picks. I've been adding on average 300 songs a year. My non-dupe song list is over 11K. But your right it's time to do a complete printing. I miss chartbuster.

That's still alot of songs per year, i'll reprint my books once I get over 500 new songs - which usually takes anywhere from 6 months to a year.

That is really odd, I clicked on your link and it opened right up. Then to be sure I deleted all browsing history, closed the browser, re-opened the browser, navigated to your post and clicked on your link and it opened right up again.
Anyone else having any problems with the Latshaw website?

I update when my "New Arrivals" section hits a thousand. This used to be about twice per year, but new aquisitions have slowed a bit due to a newer guideline. After having folks request a song that only they sing, then having them show up sporadically, it's now a 2-3 singer request before the buy.

I also stopped buying by artist demand. EVERYONE said I HAD to get lots of Adele stuff, yet except for Rolling In The Deep, NOTHING gets song. Katy Perry, same thing. EVERYONE said I HAD to get Red Solo Cup- have yet to hear it sung. I have pretty much every Beatles song ever put out...and maybe 3 Beatles singers through the decades- I actually have more Bee Gees singers- go figure....

Bottom line, it's about the bottom line.

I bought alot of Adele on the hunch she would be big, not as much as i'd anticipated, but lot of her stuff gets done - and it's not the mainstream radio stuff usually, Rolling In The Deep is one of the songs that don't get done very often. One And Only gets done quite a bit. Lovesong (Cure cover) gets done quite a bit, Chasing Pavements, Turning Tables, Set Fire to The Rain & Someone Like You also get done quite a bit - but these last two were more radio played.
