I wouldn't say that it's the best software out there but OpenKDJ has potential. I might be inclined to switch over if I hadn't already converted all of my songs to Hoster.

Well almost everything I require in a software. I was unsuccessful in getting the remote requests to work. When I went to url generated by the songbook website it stayed on the not accepting requests dialogue even though I had the requests turned on on my desktop computer. I tested it out on my backup laptop.

there is a drop down menu to choose your venue name that you should have created on line first, then if you already added your tracks in the program, you can then Upload and create your songbook requests DB.

I saw a show other day, poor kid works for a local company they use Redbox karaoke.
Claim to fame it's anonymous leaves no trace of what you played I guess for pirates.

Middle of show, laptop freezes.

He had no backup to mixer like a loose CD player to recover.

30 mins it took to get his music back.

Lol

Reminded me of that song when the music stops.

The singers were so bad there and the kid had echo maxed for everyone, that my ears were hurting.

So I glad the music stopped for 30 mins.

Lol

So I made a point to ask kid what KSW they use.

Redbox his answer.

So that can freeze easily.

I created a venue but when I go in the program requests window that box remains blank.

1) goto https://songbook.openkj.org/
2) Sign Up (Using an existing google ID)
3) Login
A) Click "Add Venue"
B) Choose a name of choice for both Venue Name and URL String. (I keep these the same) Example: Songbook12345
C) Click Add Venue to create.
4) Copy/Paste API key into the Network settings of OpenKJ player.
(Tools > Network > API Key)
5) Place a Check mark in the "Use Request Server" box
6) CLOSE OPENKJ PLAYER AND REOPEN
7) Click Karaoke tab > Incoming Requests
8) Choose desired Venue name (Drop down menu)
9) Place a check mark in "Accept Requests"
10) Click "Update Remote DB" button (if you already imported your songs you will see them in the box above)
11) Go to https://songbook.openkj.org/venue/YOUR SONGBOOK NAME

I wish I had searched for this earlier than tonight. I really like working in Linux but I need to be running a show, at home, tomorrow night. After that I will dive into this and try it out on Linux Mint.

Chuck it's actually very quick to set up. You could have it ready for tomorrow night if you really wanted to give it a try. I have run one show with it before he added the ability for the request receiver to pop up as you get a new request.

You have to be running the host program OpenKJ and have requests active for the online Songbook to work.

I'm the developer of OpenKJ. If you guys are having any problems at all, feel free to email me at support@openkj.org or message me on Facebook at the OpenKJ page. BTW I'm currently working on writing an iOS and Android app for requests. Should be out in the next few weeks.

Isaac has one upped himself again. He has authored a standalone song shop program that works with any software.

Yes the OpenKJ program is doing very well. Although the remote request works very well it does still require an active internet connection. be nice to have a server built in to the software to allow for localhost connectivity.

Personally the only downfalls to that is limited amount of connected devices to the local network and if that network isn't connected to the internet then you may just lose users because they can't access Facebook or any other social media sites while trying to submit a request. Personally that's why I won't use Siglos remote request system and prefer to use the old copy and paste from SongbookDB method.

Link to the stand alone song shop? And what manufacturers does it contain?

Post subject:  Re: Karaoke Software

The download is in the unstable windows versions of OpenKJ. You have to scroll down to the song shop downloads.
Right now it's just karaoke.net.

Post subject:  Re: Karaoke Software

Eh. I'll stick with db.openkj.org. At least it lists and gives links to the manufacturers directly.

Post subject:  Re: Karaoke Software

For a karaoke.net song that's a total waste of time and steps. I get a request for a song not in my database, my first step is to look It up in the store, whether or not it's through Hoster or OpenKJ Song Shop, personally I am going to choose the OpenKJ Song Shop. If it's available there, I stop my search and buy on the fly through the song shop. If not, I open the buy songs and click on the link to Karaoke Version. If there I buy. I have no other choices because of the fact that I don't accept Digitrax as being legal since they seem to have something to hide by refusing to list the songs you bought in their receipts like all the rest. And I refuse to deal with Sunflykaraoke.usa because most of their songs are audio only.
