Post subject:  Unzip files keeping directory and folder structure?

Hi all!
I want to unzip all my files, but I have a "little" problem.
My folders and files aare structured like this:

D:\Karaoke1\CB\CB8518 07\CB8518 07-01 - Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine.zip

I want to be able to do it in one fell swoop and keep the folder and directory structure without having to go into each folder and unzip and then delete the originals. As you can guess, that would take forever!
I would like the end result to look like this:

D:\Karaoke1\CB\CB8518 07\CB8518 07-01 - Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine.mp3
D:\Karaoke1\CB\CB8518 07\CB8518 07-01 - Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine.cdg

Is there a simple program to use or an easy way to do this?
Thanks!

You could try this.

Why would you want to keep the directory structure? Seriously, I don't understand the reason which is not to say that there isn't a reason, just that I don't know it.

Thanks, Jerry, but someone mentioned to me that Power CDG Burner had the ability to do what I was looking for. Turns out I had a very old version so I upgraded and I am now using it to process the files as we speak. So far, it seems to be doing a perfect job!
I will however keep the link for future reference and it may just help someone else looking to do the same task.

The reason is that if I get too many files in one folder, when I want to explore it to perhaps, change a file, rename it, or any other task, the computer tends to freeze up and it just takes too long to wait for it to "catch up".
If I can limit the files in a folder, it doesn't happen.
Also, I like to have my discs in separate folders. I find it easier to locate items that way.
I realize my way isn't for everyone, but it's what I'm used to and I like it.

I keep my discs in folders that indicate what discs they were off of. Made it easy for the auditors to check my hard drive.

Having thousands of files in one folder would make it quite difficult to go back in and find songs if you were looking to make a compilation disc. Lots and lots of scrolling to get from a song on an All Hits disc down to that favorite Zoom Medley.

Depends on the program. I have all my songs in one folder. The program is what sorts them out. I type in the song & add it to the playlist or the record list. If I need to edit a song, this is done within the program as well. Only time I need to open the folder on the drive is when I copy them to my flash drive to bring to my shows computer.

So then, I am assuming that once your files are ripped onto the hard drive you folks do a lot of work on them??? I pretty much just leave mine alone so this is news to me. This is just the sort of thing that developers need to know.

I occasionally find files that are named wrong and need to get in to change it. Sometimes the file just plain doesn't work. I haven't had many like that, but when I do, it's much easier to go in and browse without the whole thing freezing.
Also, I occasionally burn a custom disc to throw in the van to learn new songs or to take with me to outside shows. I am constantly mucking around in there, trying to get things just perfect. Seems it's never ending job!

If all you need is the basic functionality that you explained, 7-zip seems like a good choice for you. It's lightweight and fast with little bloat. Of course, it can do the basic things like create password protected archives and compress files. The 7z file format has a very good compression ratio.

will you have to rebuild your database afterwards?
your hosting software will be looking for D:\Karaoke1\CB\CB8518 07\CB8518 07-01 - Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine.zip but it won't be there
rebuilding your database would remove all your singer histories as well.
just something to think about, not trying to dissuade you.

In Hoster, if I rebuild the database - even if I move the files (something other hosting software developers thinks should never be done), NOTHING in the singers history is lost, they will now point to the new folder they are moved in.

I’m just doing fine, Alan. ‘can’t complain. I’m retired, receiving pension + social security + my karaoke regular gig Fri & Sat nights, permanent installation, no set-up or tear-down. Life is good! I hope you’re doing fine as well, my friend. :)

@ paradigm: I agree with Alan. It’s ok, it happens. 8) ‘did the same thing couple years back. I responded to a 7yr old thread.

KJ File Manager will do it exactly as you described. When you import, select the main folder, and check the subfolders option. That will import all files. Select all files, and then use the convert tool to unzip them all in place.
