Post subject:  FREE MP3G Downloads
I was on MP3GMUSIC.com looking at there free mp3g music downloads and was wondering if the karaoke songs are royalty free songs from the Artists and someone added the lyrics or if Artists are starting to release some of their own music as karaoke? They are kind of obscere songs.

The page with the free Mp3Gs is 719x.com, and none of those songs have been officially licensed, that is a karaoke homebrew site.

Hmmm. The main page is run by Tricerasoft and a member of the KIAA.

Is it them? Or hi-jacked to look like them?

They seem to have gone through a bit of trouble to conceal exactly who they are . . .

And the free downloads are unlicensed, illegal homebrews

MP3GMUSIC.com is only an aggregator of websites that offer MP3+Gs. Tricerasoft, Select-A-Track, CAVS, The Karaoke Channel, all pay sites, and the free link links to 719x.com. So none of the other sites have anything to do with 719x.com.

Was checking on the site today and noticed Chartbuster is now offering Digital Downloads.

He is an affiliate of various sites including TriceraSoft. An affiliate promotes the site and receives commissions on items sold. Anyone can sign up and promote these services and receive commissions (I am referring to all these sites), he has simply combined his favorite into a workable format.

And a reminder: Any U.S. based host running a download based show ( even if they paid for the tracks) is as illegal as any pirate.

No combination license for use of downloads exists for U.S. based hosts. I know, I know, I'm all wet. However, after repeated requests, NO ONE has ever been able to post a copy of one, and NO tracks available from ANY source are downloaded with a text file copy.

Not judging, just reminding....

Hmm if CB is distributing their own music in digital downloads and you use it at your show and can show proof that you downloaded it from their site (they will have records and so will you) why would they come after you?

I don't believe they will give you any copy of a license as if they do what would keep pirates from copying the license thus saying they are legal?

Can you show us where it says that any U.S. based host running a downloaded based show is illegal?

We cover the purchaser for the performance license - this is the license to use the song from the digital download on your computer. The manufacturer is also paid to keep them happy and keep you legit. Keep your receipts, these represent your license paid for your territory and are trackable all the way back to the copyright agencies AND the manufacturer -- we are members of SOCAN, MCPS, and APRA and these cover the territories.

*Remember*, if you are using them (or any song) commercially in the USA, the Venue must ALWAYS have an ASCAP or BMI cover license (UK is PRS, Austr. is AMCOS, etc) to pay for the "re-use" or commercial use of the song (because they make money each time you play the song). But that's not your responsibility. If they do not have such a license, please ask them to support the industry, especially when this license is peanuts.

The problem is that Chartbuster says straight out that they do not imply a Sync license or a Mechanical license- they are right out front with that. Therefore, the responsibility of use sits on the shoulders of the U.S. based host.


As for showing illegality, the fact that no combination license exists does that. If you disagree, by all means post a copy of or link to such a license, or post a copy of the .txt file of that documentation that would be downloaded with each legal track for the sake of KJ coverage.

If you can, I will not only admit an error, but will publicly beg for your forgiveness. How's that?

Gotta tell ya- this is probably the last forum around where this point is even argued anymore... :roll:
