Hello! i am 16 years old and doing a journalism feature on
Karaoke at college. I have been researching karaoke on the internet and
came across your site. I don't know if you are able to help me but i am
looking for famous celebrities comments/quotes about karaoke. If you
would be able to point me in the right direction i would appreciate it,
if not its ok :). Thanx alot.

I have seen Alan Jackson do karaoke.. and he didn't have a bad thing to say about it.. nor did he look at the monitor either.
he came in the bar with his manager in a small bar in Nashville which was real strange.. and nobody even approached him.. he just did 3 songs and left .. never used a stage name and "did his thing".

Although some people in the music industry like I'm in consider Karaoke an "Amatuer" event. Well Yes it may be. But, this is where I got my jump start on my career, and learned how to audition for a recording deal.

it's alot more than just being able to sing for fun to get there.

I now try to return to Karaoke what it has given me, some wisdom, and hoping that those out there don't make the mistakes i did or will not make atleast the dumb one ones that others will do.

I hope your story turns out well.

if you want references to other celebrities on karaoke go to my website. and contact my label.

I dunno about FAMOUS, but I had an experience one night at a show where this little man came up to me and asked if I had "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens. I told him that I did, and he stuck his hand out and said you're shaking hands with one of them. I'm Jay Leslie.

Apparently they were in town for a benefit for the local sheriff's association and were staying in the hotel where I was playing. They asked me to sing the song (fortunately it is in my repertoire) and after making some crack about having to write out a royalty check to them I sang it. It met with their approval, so who knows--maybe if one of them gets sick or something I could fill in as a Token!
